Job Summary

As the Director of Strategy, you are the foundation upon which all brand strategies, messaging, creative, media strategies, sales efforts, social outreach, and product/service development are built. You are a progressive thinker who can turn insight into opportunity – leading the team to think bigger and go further in driving growth and impact for our clients. You are highly respected for delivering strategic thinking that answers clients’ unique business questions while providing creative teams with the platform needed to achieve creative excellence. You constantly swing for the fences and bring fresh thinking to every client whether it’s a B2B corp or a bubblegum brand. 

You are adept at managing multiple projects and clients to a high standard. You are an inspirational presenter and easily connect with clients, gaining their trust and admiration. You are a voice of authority in the agency and an inclusive leader to your internal team. You set the bar high but are always willing to teach what you know to those willing to learn. You know how to empower others and create a genuine sense of comradery within the organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own the strategic vision and creative alignment for assigned clients
  • Oversee strategic and messaging development in partnership with the Director of Account Services and Creative Director
  • Create and steward comprehensive brand strategies, clearly applying them over multiple campaigns and initiatives
  • Oversee, guide and directly influence media recommendations to ensure alignment with brand strategy, target audience, and client goals
  • Identify opportunities for client growth and appropriately align them with client interests, capabilities, and budgets
  • Partner with Account Services to help grow client business
  • Partner with Creative to help sell the work
  • Gain a thorough understanding of client business and help them understand how our recommendations provide a path to their success
  • Guide and direct research efforts and analysis to inform data-driven strategies
  • Lead presentation development efforts
  • Facilitate workshops
  • Participate in/lead presentations 
  • Mentor and develop members of the strategy team

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be local to the Raleigh-Durham area
  • 10+ years of brand strategy in a creative agency
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful brand strategies that drive business growth and ROI
  • Strong leadership abilities that inspire and motivate cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, development of research tools, and primary research analysis
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset, able to anticipate client needs and identify opportunities for value-added services
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts in a clear and compelling manner
  • Experience building and leading strategy presentations
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to craft clear, simple, insightful, and brief creative briefs
  • A love of advertising and insatiable curiosity about why things tick and why people care
  • You have a strong appreciation for storytelling and design

Sr. Art Director

Job Summary

BrandBossHQ/wmHarper is seeking a Senior Art Director to assist the creative team in bringing concepts and creative ideas to life. The ideal candidate would have strong conceptual chops, presentation skills, and chameleon-esque technical ability. We need someone who constantly swings for the fences and makes work bend to their will—whether it’s a B2B corp or a bubblegum brand. 

You take your work personally and take feedback in stride. You can help challenger brands stand out from their competition like a sore thumb—a really gorgeous sore thumb. You treat pixels like playthings. You are intentional about being unconventional. You like to start sentences with, “Wouldn’t it be cool if…”

Job Responsibilities

  • Be a fountainhead of smart, conceptual work throughout a high volume of clients across any and all industries.
  • Carry conceptual brand work through execution, protecting the integrity of the idea for each tactic and touchpoint.
  • Have a strong foundation of the advertising fundamentals, with a robust Rolodex of reference and inspiration. 
  • Be entrusted with creating mechanical/production files for both print and digital deliverables to the agency’s standards.
  • Be a self-motivated professional, meeting all assigned deadlines without supervision or reminders. 
  • Proactively bring ideas to the table without being tasked or asked to. 
  • Clearly articulate your rationale and POV to our internal team and clients.
  • Live in the Triangle area of NC or be willing to travel to our Raleigh office frequently. 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or portfolio school experience) not required, but preferred
  • 5+ years of experience (agency experience is a plus)
  • The ability to effortlessly move from one client to another 
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, with expert knowledge and daily practice of major features within each application
  • Knowledgeable understanding of the Pantone color system — along with use cases of Pantone inks and CMYK and RGB color spaces for reproducing images 
  • Understanding of current web design and paid social standards
  • Familiarity with image-generation AI programs is strongly preferred
  • At least some experience in Figma (alternatively, Adobe XD and/or Sketch)
  • Practical knowledge of Adobe After Effects is a huge plus
  • On-press experience is a huge plus
